About the Role — Development Assistant This is an excellent opportunity for an organized professional looking to build a career in nonprofit fundraising while advancing social justice. As Development Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Associate Director of Individual Giving and Operations to gain hands-on experience in fundraising administration, database management, donor stewardship, and special events. As part of our small but mighty team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across VIP, interact directly with donors, partners, and members of our Board of Directors, and jump in wherever needed to keep development operations running smoothly. What You’ll Do Support individual and corporate fundraising efforts, including donor and prospect research. Maintain accurate donor records, gifts, interactions, and notes in VIP’s donor database. Prepare gift acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and other donor correspondence. Generate donor reports, prospect and mailing lists, and other fundraising data. Help keep development files, documents, and procedures organized and up to date. Support fundraising events, including VIP’s annual benefit, with event logistics, communications, materials, donor lists, sponsor recognition, and follow-up. Provide administrative support to the Associate Director, including calendar management, meeting agendas, notes, and follow-up. What You’ll Need 1–3 years of relevant work experience. Systems and data comfort: High comfort managing data, generating reports, and maintaining donor database integrity with precision. Organizational chops: Strong project coordination and time-management skills, with pride in delivering accurate, orderly, and polished work. Exceptional communication: Clear, thoughtful written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage thoughtfully with diverse community partners and donors. Mission alignment: A grounded commitment to VIP’s mission of supporting survivors and ending gender-based violence. Demonstrated discretion: Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive donor and organizational information. Language: Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency or fluency is a strong plus.
