Underground Electrician **Timmins, ON · $140,000 – $165,000 · All travel expenses paid** **High voltage. Live equipment. No shutdowns. No shortcuts.** Highvec Canada has been cleaning and monitoring high-voltage power distribution systems since 1990 — underground mine substations, smelters, refineries, steel plants, pulp and paper mills, OSB plants, across Canada and parts of the U.S. We do work most electrical contractors won't touch: live-line insulator cleaning, cleaning metal-clad switchgear while it's still energized, condition monitoring on stations that can't be taken offline. We design and build much of our own equipment because nothing off the shelf does the job. Three decades in, we still have a clean safety record — not as a slogan, but because that's the only way this work gets done. **The role** You'll work directly alongside our Operations Manager on: * Cleaning substations, switchgear, transformers, motors and insulators — surface and underground, much of it on live systems * Condition monitoring on energized stations using infrared, ultraviolet and ultrasound to catch failures before they happen * Pre- and post-cleaning inspections, plus the reports that go to the client's maintenance team * Driving DZ-class vehicles to sites across Canada, including multi-week trips **Why this is worth your time** Very few people in this country can do energized high-voltage cleaning. You'll be trained on the job in IR and UV thermography, live-line work practices, our blast media process, and the safety discipline that makes all of it possible. If you're early in your electrical career, this is the fastest route into a specialty that is in demand and thinly staffed. If you're already experienced underground, this is a place where your judgement on high voltage is actually used instead of overruled. And the pay reflects it. This is not a role we're trying to fill cheaply. **What you need** * Underground certification or equivalent — Mining Modules / Common Core * Valid G licence - DZ would be an asset * Home base in the Timmins area, or willingness to relocate here * Real comfort working at height, in confined underground spaces, and doing heavy lifting * Manual dexterity, good eyesight, hand-eye coordination, physical stamina * Ability to read and interpret specifications and work orders * Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel * Strong English communication, written and spoken * Experience working in multicultural crews and on client sites * Availability for extensive Canada-wide travel * A safety-first mindset — you stop the job when something isn't right **What gives you an edge** * Electrical journeyman licence * Red Seal certification * High- or medium-voltage switchgear experience * IR/UV thermography or NDT training * Underground mining or industrial plant experience **The honest parts** * **There is no fixed schedule.** Work follows our contracts, so the pattern changes month to month — some stretches are heavy tr
