Retention Clerk - Montréal, QC

**General Description of Responsibilities** Through guidance provided by Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor, and in a safe, legal and ethical manner, the Retain and Disposal Clerk is to attend to the process of retaining and disposing of materials for the company and its clients and to maintain associated records, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost effective. In the event the Retain and Disposal Clerk is unavailable, the Laboratory Manager delegates the responsibilities to trained Laboratory personnel **Specific Responsibilities** * 2.1. Transfers and retains samples and other requested materials according to the retain process described in OCA\_AMER\_QPG\_029, Sample Retention. 2.2. Disposes of or prepares for disposal of samples and other requested materials according to the disposal process described in OCA\_AMER\_QPG\_009, Sample Disposal. * Maintain the supplies necessary to accomplish 2.1 and 2.2. * Maintain all appropriate records associated with retain and disposal of samples and materials. * Maintain assigned area, files, supplies and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. * Perform any reasonable additional duties as may be assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor. * Carries out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Management System, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy. **Supervision Exercised** The position of Retain and Disposal Clerk carries no direct personnel management responsibility or authority. **Supervision Received** The Retain and Disposal Clerk will report to the Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor. **Education and Experience Requirements** High school education required **Core Competencies** * Good physical condition. * Protocol, procedure, and safety oriented. * Organized with time management skills. * Experience in handling chemical and petroleum products, including Hazwhopper training. **Value Added Competencies** * Specifies local exceptions, additional duties, different reporting relationships, and different qualifications for the position in a local laboratory. * Sampling of truck and shore tanks when required. * Mineral samples preparations and disposal. * Shipping all required material or samples. **Salary & Benefits Information** Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. **Intertek’s Commitment** Intertek is a world leader in the Quality Assurance market, with a proven, high-quality business model and a global network of customer-focused operations and highly engaged subject matter experts.
