Description du poste
Do you want to combine your expertise in weather with a strong interest in energy markets? In this role, you turn weather and market developments into insights that help optimize Luminus’ short-term energy portfolio. You build your own view, challenge forecasts and translate complex information into clear recommendations for short-term decision-making.
**What you’ll do**
* You independently analyse and challenge weather, price and volume forecasts, combining internal forecasts with external data to identify short-term risks and opportunities.
* By comparing weather scenarios and market behaviour, you assess their probability and potential impact, while you anticipate events such as wind ramps, cloud passages, fog, icing, cold spells and heatwaves.
* You translate changes in temperature, wind and solar irradiance into concrete impacts on MW, renewable and thermal generation, consumption, prices and imbalances.
* Working closely with the Short Term Optimizers, you turn your analysis into clear recommendations for the D to D+5 horizon, explaining scenarios, confidence levels and associated risks while challenging decisions constructively.
* You review forecasts, decisions and actual outcomes on a daily basis, helping you identify deviations and opportunities to improve models, data, processes and future decision-making.
* You connect Short Term Optimization, Forecasting and Data Intelligence by communicating your analyses clearly, defining relevant data requirements and sharing your knowledge with the teams involved.
**What you bring**
* With a university degree in meteorology, climatology or a related field, or equivalent advanced expertise in atmospheric modelling, you have the scientific foundation needed for the role.
* Your 1 to 3 years of experience in energy, utilities or commodities gives you a good understanding of gas and power markets, balancing and related mechanisms.
* Strong programming and weather-data analysis skills enable you to work with large volumes of weather, energy and market data.
* Your rigorous analytical mindset allows you to form an independent judgement, make decisions under uncertainty and translate complex information into clear conclusions.
* Through clear communication and constructive assertiveness, you can challenge and influence stakeholders even when you have no direct managerial authority.
