Licensed Funeral Director – Maternity Leave Coverage
**Haskett Funeral Homes | Exeter, Ontario**
**Full-Time Contract | Immediate Start – July 1, 2027**
Looking for a change of pace or an opportunity to try something different?
Haskett Funeral Homes is looking for a Licensed Funeral Director (Class 1 or Class 2) to join our team to cover a maternity leave through July 1, 2027.
Whether you're between opportunities, considering a career move, or simply interested in experiencing funeral service in a different environment, we'd welcome the opportunity to talk.
You'll be primarily based at our Exeter location, which serves as the hub for our seven funeral homes across Southwestern Ontario.
What can you expect from us?
**A schedule that respects your time**
We recognize that funeral service isn't a traditional 9-to-5 profession, but we believe our team deserves predictable time away from work.
Our 28-day rotation includes:
* **10 scheduled days off**
* **No more than 7 nights on call**
* **2 weekends completely off**
* **1 weekend as primary on-call**
* **1 weekend as backup on-call**, requiring availability if needed, including on short notice
We don't routinely staff our funeral homes on weekends. Our team attends when services, arrangements, or other responsibilities require their attention.
**Compensation and working environment**
* Competitive compensation
* Modern facilities, vehicles, equipment, and technology
* A supportive, experienced team with the depth to share responsibilities
* Opportunities to contribute ideas and make meaningful decisions
* A workplace that values your time, well-being, and professional interests
Do more of what you enjoy.
One of the advantages of being part of a larger team is that not everyone needs to do everything.
Some funeral directors love embalming. Others find their greatest satisfaction meeting with families, making arrangements, or directing meaningful services.
We welcome Class 1 and Class 2 Funeral Directors, including those who prefer not to embalm.
Our team's depth allows us to recognize individual strengths and interests and, wherever possible, help people spend more time doing the work they enjoy most.
What would you be doing?
As part of our team, you'll be involved in:
* Meeting with families and helping them make funeral and cremation arrangements
* Coordinating and directing funeral services, visitations, and celebrations of life
* Supporting families throughout the funeral planning process
* Collaborating with fellow funeral directors and support staff
* Participating in our scheduled on-call rotation
* Bringing forward ideas that help us serve families better
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with others, and believes that funeral service should be both meaningful and rewarding.
