**Public Works Operator – Term Full-Time (18-Month Maternity Leave Coverage)** The Town of Vermilion is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Public Works Operator to join our Public Works team for an 18-month temporary term position to cover a maternity leave. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Public Works Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, equipment, roads, and facilities while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. **Key Responsibilities:** · Operate and maintain heavy-duty and light-duty equipment, including graders, loaders, trucks, skid steers, and other municipal equipment. · Perform roadway, utility, drainage, and general infrastructure maintenance. · Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance. · Assist with snow removal, sanding, and seasonal maintenance activities. · Respond to emergencies and participate in after-hours call-outs as required. · Adhere to all municipal policies, procedures, and safety regulations. · Complete required documentation, inspections, and reports. **Qualifications:** · Experience operating heavy-duty and light-duty equipment. · Valid Class 3 with air brakes · Knowledge of municipal public works operations, maintenance practices, and occupational health and safety standards. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Strong communication and problem-solving skills. · Physically capable of performing duties in various weather conditions. **Conditions of Employment** The successful candidate will be required to provide: · A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. · A current Driver's Abstract acceptable to the Municipality. · Proof of a valid driver's licence. **What We Offer:** · Competitive salary commensurate with experience. · Comprehensive benefits package. · A positive team environment. · Valuable experience working in municipal operations.
