**Job Summary** **Hiring: Commercial & Institutional Concrete Flatwork Estimator** Halifax, Nova Scotia We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Concrete Flatwork Estimator to join our growing industry leading company. In this role, you will analyze project plans and specifications to deliver accurate, competitive bids for large-scale commercial and institutional concrete projects. **Job Title:** Concrete Estimator – Commercial & Institutional Flatwork **Location:** Halifax, Nova Scotia **Job Type:** Full-time Monday to Friday **The Role** As our Concrete Flatwork Estimator, you will be instrumental to our bidding process. You will review architectural and structural drawings to quantify materials, labor, and equipment needed for high-quality commercial and institutional projects. Your accuracy directly impacts our project success and company growth. **Key Responsibilities** * Perform detailed digital takeoffs for commercial and institutional flatwork, foundations, slabs, and site concrete. * Maintain organized document management. * Review blueprints, specifications, and RFP documents to fully understand project scopes and structural requirements. * Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, and overhead. * Review work execution with the operations team to validate bid assumptions. * Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing. * Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers, and suppliers. * Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required. * Provide summarized and accurate detail of awarded jobs to project management /operations teams. **Qualifications & Skills** Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience estimating commercial and/or institutional concrete flatwork. Technical Skills: Proficiency with industry takeoff and estimating software. Blueprint Literacy: Advanced ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and civil drawings. Math & Analytical Skills: Strong numerical aptitude with a sharp eye for detail and potential project risks. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting bids.
