Description du poste

Trinity College, founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, is one of the largest Colleges in the University of Cambridge, with some 720 undergraduates, 350 graduate students, 190 Fellows and around 360 non-academic staff. Trinity recognises that students are not only at university to study but also to broaden their horizons. We encourage students to take the opportunity to engage in activities outside their studies and the role of the Student Engagement Officer (SEO) plays a key part in encouraging students to maintain a healthy work-life balance as well as supporting students with the transitions into and out of university. The Student Engagement Officer is part of the Tutorial team – which encompasses postgraduate admissions, postgraduate studentships, and undergraduate and postgraduate student support – and is a key role which would suit candidates who would welcome the opportunity to combine administration with events and activities. The role is key in helping plan and coordinate activities that support and enhance student engagement across the College, from pre-arrival through to graduation and beyond; this includes assisting the Head of the College’s Academic, Personal and Professional Development with their programme for collaborative study and peer-led learning and working with the Chaplains and voluntary organisations to promote opportunities for students. In addition, the role includes one day per week in the Alumni Relations and Development Office (ARDO) implementing alumni-led initiatives. The Student Engagement Officer helps maintain and update the student intranet and freshers’ website and is responsible for student-focused communications regarding events and activities. They assist the Head of Tutorial Services with the coordination of the College’s student grants, awards and prizes, including updating websites, promoting competitions, collating applications, sending award letters and collating reports from recipients. Applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and will need to show that they are enthusiastic about supporting and enhancing the experience of students, have experience of organising events, have excellent interpersonal and presentational skills and have up-to-date IT skills, particularly with regards to handling financial data. Trinity is a competitive employer. In addition to offering 25 days of holiday (plus 8 public holidays) pro rata a year, and lunch when working on site, Trinity also offers a generous pension scheme, private health care, as well as a cycle to work scheme (tax-free benefit). Trinity is a highly social place, which offers regular outings to places of interest, and organises functions. The Tutorial Department is headed by the Senior Tutor and Deputy Senior Tutor; the latter is responsible for student welfare in particular and works closely with the team of ten Tutors, the Head of Tutorial Services, the Chaplains and the four Tutorial Administrators to ensure that students have the best possible experience during their time in College. This is a full-time post with an expectation of 36.25 hours per week; for certain events at weekends or in the evenings, additional hours may be required and time off in lieu will be agreed. The role is based in central Cambridge. Interviews are expected to be held on the morning of Friday 11 December 2026. Applications should consist of a completed application form, covering e-mail/letter and the equal opportunities monitoring form.
