This position is within the U.S. Department of State (Department), Office of Inspector General (OIG). The incumbent serves as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Operations (DAIG-O). The primary purpose of this position is to fully participate with and assist the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Inspections in leading, managing, and directing the work necessary to meet The Office of Inspections (ISP) mission, specifically as it relates to ensuring the quality of inspection work. PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : As DAIG-O, the incumbent participates with and assists the AIG in all aspects of the work involved in directing the operations and activities of ISP. This includes the following specific responsibilities: Reviewing and approving inspection reports prior to their submission to the AIG for Inspections to ensure that findings are properly documented, well-founded recommendations are made, and the inspection work conforms to OIG guidance and professional standards. Leading and managing strategic planning, budget formulation, and budget execution in support of ISP's operations and its inspection program. Leading and managing inspection prioritization and the development of ISP's annual work plan and inspection schedule. Leading and managing a comprehensive compliance program to ensure that recommendations made in inspection reports are fully implemented by the Department or USAGM. Leading and managing an extensive quality assurance program to promote conformance to Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) professional standards. Leading the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing the conduct of overseas post and domestic bureau inspections, targeted/subject-specific inspections, evaluations, management alerts, or compliance follow up reviews, as may be required. Carrying out broad-based planning and general management of activities to ensure program objectives are accomplished and comply with laws, regulations, security provisions, policy decisions, and other similar obligations.
