You will serve as a ARCHITECT in the PLANNING, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE, DESIGN DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC. PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : You will prepare scopes of work for design and construction projects (e.g., buildings, horizontal structures). You will serve as technical lead and as a mentor for new and junior architects in the organization, and being proficient in interpreting NAVFAC codes, criteria and policies to effect good design decisions. You will manage and prepare Design-Bid-Build (DBB) full plans, and specs, Design-Build (DB) Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and cost estimates for new and renovation projects using latest office and CAD software. Experience in BIM is desirable. You will evaluate and coordinate DBB and DB designs, and supporting documents to determine feasibility, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting requirements, and allotted design schedules. You will investigate and evaluate architectural and engineering issues and concerns in existing facilities to develop recommendations for remediation or corrective measures. You will provide design services during construction to include site inspections, review and approval of contractor design and construction submittals. QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES : This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must be a Registered Architect (RA). Your registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You MUST provide a copy of your current license/registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not have an expiration date will not serve to verify this requirement. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing design drawings and specifications for new facilities or repair, restoration, and alteration of existing facilities using advanced architectural software such as AutoCAD and/or Specs-In-Tact; 2) Participating in on-site analysis to collect data and develop scope for construction projects; 3) Coordinating the architectural design with engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design; 4) Investigating architectural issues and concerns to recommend options for remediation or corrective measures.
