The Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Mental Health Service team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to Veterans, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The LPN performs assigned duties that promote quality health care, exceptional customer service, and supports the mission of serving those who served our country.
PRINCIPALES MISSIONS :
The LPN will report to the Nursing, Mental Health Nurse Manager or designee. VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Major duties include but are not limited to: Technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care including medication equipment-assisted care and (patient/family education). In organizing and delivering care, the LPN/LVN recognized and considers emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related factors. Prepares and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures. Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medication/treatments, promptly and accurately documenting noted changes, and reporting any deviations from normal to RN or MD/DO. Knowledge and ability to recognize urgent and emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed. Established constructive relationships with individual patients and their families to elicit feelings and attitudes, and to promote positive relationships, communication and socialization skills, Fosters an environment of respect for individual patient and family rights to privacy and dignity in all aspects of care delivery. Effectively incorporates knowledge and understanding of established customer service standards in all interactions with patients, family members, and/or other inter/external customers. Supports the patient and/or family members/significant others in the integration of the patient care plan toward achievement of discharge objectives. Performs support duties for diagnostic procedures, which include preparing the patient, patient education, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing specimens, preparing and passing instruments, and monitoring the patient's condition. Provide therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive care of patients such as reinforcement and initiation of patient and family education with minimal supervision. Properly prepare and administer medications with minimal supervision as well as be able to recognize contradictions and to assess the effectiveness of medications given. Recognizes the need for and initiates action in emergencies, i.e., cardiac/respiratory arrest, seizures, and/or assaultive behavior. Assist the physician and/or nurse with therapeutic or diagnostic procedures, including skin biopsies, joint aspirations, phlebotomies, pap smears, pelvic examinations, minor eye surgeries, and minor GU procedures. Obtains and arranges necessary equipment. Correctly positions the patient, provides information, and reassurance to the patient. Maintains precise adherence to basic principles of asepsis, safety, and universal precautions to provide a safe environment for patients, families, and employees. Recognize emergency situations, cardio-pulmonary arrest, and initiate CPR or appropriate action. Work Schedule: Variable Work Schedule.
