This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until 04/23/2027. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 05/23/2026, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each month. The Organizational Location of the Position is: Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, Anatomic Pathology Section, VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS), Dallas, Texas. PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : Duties may include but are not limited to: GS-05: Performs a broad range of anatomic pathology procedures to include embedding, cutting, staining, and immunohistochemistry processes. The HT performs advanced and complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles. Evaluates and solves problems related to processing of biological specimens for analysis, considering physiologic processes and requirements. Maintains and documents the optimal functioning of anatomic laboratory equipment. Uses, calibrates, identifies malfunctions, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance of anatomic laboratory equipment. Diagnoses deviations in performance due to instrument malfunction. Performs and documents quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective actions related to processing activities, as well as pre-analytical and analytical test performance, using statistical principles and theories of performance improvement. Adheres to practices and regulations governing bio-safety and bio-security in the workplace. Identifies discrepancies, solves problems, and presents solutions. Communicates effectively and courteously while working as a healthcare team member. Provides excellent service as defined by the customer (healthcare providers, patients, and others). Organizes work and sets priorities to meet deadlines. Participates in proficiency testing programs. Performs validation studies on new equipment and test procedures.
