Lead Medical Support Assistant position is located and aligned under Health Administrative Service at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center located at 820 S Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60612. PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : Assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility and conducting ongoing reviews/audits to ensure quality of work. Ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments and providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures. Orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees and ensuring all training requirements are met. Organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas and acting as liaison between MSAs and other staff in order to resolve day to day conflicts. Assists in collaboration of an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model and performs all related duties and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients. Assure appointment schedules are maintained by all scheduling staff; ensuring accuracy of movements on patient Movement Reports. Monitors programs including Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VISTA), VISTA Capture, Vista Imaging, Insurance Capture Buffer (ICB), and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Insurance Capture Buffer (ICB), Emergency Department Integration Software (EDIS), and VHA Support Service Center (VSSC) as needed. Participates in team huddles and team meetings to manage, plan, problem solve, and follow-up with patient care by sharing information and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Functional Statement #: 08101F QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES : Basic Requirements: Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.g.). English Language Proficiency: MSAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.j. Experience and Education: (1) Experience: Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. OR, (2) Education: One year above high school. OR, (3) Experience/Education Combination: Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates: Grade Determinations: Lead Medical Support Assistant GS-07. Experience: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level. AND, Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). Candidates must demonstrate all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities below: 1. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. 2. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. 3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. 4. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. 5. Ability to provide staff development and training. 6.
