This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Nursing Service Administration, Amarillo, Texas. The employee performs duties in support of the Associate Director Patient Care Service/Nurse Executive, Inpatient Service Chief, Outpatient Service Chief, Community Living Service Chief, Nurse Managers, Nursing Officers of the Day and Supervisor.
PRINCIPALES MISSIONS :
Duties: The incumbent serves in an Administrative support role to the Associate Director of Patient Services/Nurse Executive, Chief of Inpatient Services, Chief of Community Living Service, Chief of Outpatient Services and Supervisory Administrative Officer. Incumbent will serve as Administrative support to other services under the Nurse Executive, this includes, Sterile Processing Services, Nutrition and Food Services, Education Services, Nurse Recruiter and Chaplain Services. The incumbent is required to perform difficult duties using knowledge of complex subject matters, knowledge of policies and procedures and a thorough knowledge of office procedures. This position requires knowledge of matters concerning Nursing Services, including administrative, clinical and managerial. Incumbent is considered the subject matter expert for time and attendance keeping in Nursing Services, assists with troubleshooting any timekeeping issues and controls, and directs the activities of others in the unit who work with complex schedules. The incumbent performs the following types of duties: Develops new policy statements and reviews for compliance and accuracy. Receives and reviews regulations, directives and memoranda on administrative functions. Interprets such material and determines the extent, which the organization is affected, and advises operating officials. Independently prepares correspondence covering subject of an administrative nature, both internal and external. Maintains control of action correspondence; performs follow-up action to ensure timely reply/action. Receives and logs outgoing correspondence, reviewing it for correct format, punctuation, spelling, grammatical accuracy, factual correctness, enclosures, dates, signatures, complete addresses, etc. Independently develops standard for letter and replies to inquiries, develops background information for correspondence/reports; receives phone calls and determines appropriate distributions of the call. Incumbent will oversee a variety of administrative programs, including the distribution and dissemination of incoming mail, internal control, records management, publication and forms management and timesheets. Incumbent will perform office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, spreadsheets, and database and/or graphics. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
