Registered Nurse Manager demonstrates the fundamental knowledge of the unit and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : DUTIES MAY INCLUDE HOWEVER ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. Designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Seeks knowledge from professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. Participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Works with close supervision, is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and seeks direction from others as needed. Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner. Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Aware of high reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve patient outcomes. Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers. Responsible for maintaining competency to continue personal and professional growth. Applies evidence-based practice/research to patient care. Participates in unit-based activities to improve and deliver cost effective patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of specific unit level performance improvement activities. Incorporates patient preferences into shared care delivery decisions. Consistently communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Reports all known information security incidents or violations to the supervisor and/or the Information Security Officer immediately.
