This position is located within the VA Healthcare Network in Syracuse, NY.
PRINCIPALES MISSIONS :
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Receives, controls, monitors, validates records, analyzes, and reports on accounting transactions that affect the assets, cost, liabilities, revenue, and proprietary accounts of programs serviced. Performs clerical, assistant, or technician level work in support of a budget, accounting, auditing, payroll, fiscal, and/or financial management function. Performs budget administration support, financial systems support, payroll, cash processing. voucher examination, agent cashier or accounting technician work. Analyzes, codes, and processes all types of accounting transactions involving various types of funds ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information provided in accordance with regulatory requirements. Tests entries using printouts and as required, traces error through the system to determine point of origin and method of corrections. Maintains the accounting records to assure that the computer output subsidiary ledgers, registers, and general ledgers show the correct accumulation of data. Reviews a variety of printouts to verify the accuracy of accounting designations and effect on information input to the system. Balances and reconciles, reports, statements, summaries, and trial balances with supporting accounting data on daily/weekly/ monthly/yearly basis constituting complete reconciliation. Initiates corrective action to reconcile records. Reviews purchase orders, contracts, travel orders, and other claims against obligated funds and enters data into accounting systems, correct invalid/incorrect entries, and prepare trial balances to check the status of accounts. QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES :
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must have: At least one full year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service (GS-5), that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of an Accounting Technician. Specialized experience includes performing clerical work in support of budgeting, accounting, auditing, payroll, or financial management; and processing cash receipts and disbursements as part of cashiering duties.
