About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) Graduate Education Medical Library in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation PRINCIPALES MISSIONS : Provide information services to clinical and nursing staff at Tripler, related to patient care, research, and presentations/ publications. Performing and teaching literature searching of various databases, for example PubMed, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature(CINAHL). Attending Morning Reports in various residency programs; providing clinical librarianship services to the residents. Participating in nursing education activities, such as Nursing Skills Fairs and teaching Evidence Based Practice in a classroom setting. Marketing Medical Library services to clinical and nursing staff. Designing instructional materials, guides to library services, learning resource tools, and point-of-use instructional aids. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Librarian (Medical Science): Degree: Completed one full academic year of graduate study in library science from an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts) OR A total of at least five years in a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. (NOTE: to qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting medical reference and research; perform website management; managing marketing and outreach; providing library instruction and trainings; and evaluating and recommending new technology. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). For Librarian(Medical Science): Applicants must also possess specialized knowledge of a subject-matter field and/or proficiency directly related to the position being filled. Such knowledge is required for the position, an applicant's education or experience must have included or been supplemented by the requirements specified in the paragraphs below: A full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university that meets all academic requirements for a bachelor's degree that included at least 24 semester hours in the specialized field for which the applicant is being considered, e.g., physical science, biological science, social science; or that included any combination of subjects with at least 15 semester hours in a major subject (such as physics or chemistry) that is especially applicable to the position for which the applicant is being considered.
